Why did I create a site professing that I'm addicted to "smack"? Simply because I love Jellyfish.com's Smack Shopping. In March I found Jellyfish.com, a shopping search engine. Since then, I've been using it to get some really amazing deals on some really cool stuff. They have 2 major things that most other shopping sites do not: cash-back from thousands of retailers and a live, online reverse-auction.

The cash-back is just like a rebate, except it applies to everything from a retailer's site. For example, Circuit City offers 7.5% cash back, so if you click the Circuit City link on Jellyfish.com, and buy a $100 item, you get $7.50 back directly from Jellyfish.com. The catch is that you have to wait 30-60 days before you can have them send you a check so that you don't buy something, return it, and keep the cash-back ('cause that'd be free money). This works with many retailers like ShoeMall.com, Buy.com, well, just look at their list.

The reverse-auction, called "Smack Shopping" after a group of Jellyfish, is like a regular auction, except it starts at the maximum price (usually just above "retail" and goes down over time. You can choose if, and when you'd like to buy an item. Once they sell out, they're gone and no one can buy any more. Shipping and tax are included in the price so you're just paying the bottom line price. I've purchased over 25 of these reverse auctions (there are 40+ per day) and gotten iPods that list for $250 for $160 and DVD sets that are $270 for $120. Jellyfish submits the order on your behalf and you don't have to wait for cashback. You simply pay the bottom-line price. How cool is that?
